Get on a gondola lift from Tateshina Farm and walk through the Gosensui Natural Garden, a nature park surrounded by trees
In this course, you will go halfway up the mountain by gondola lift and walk through the Gosensui Natural Garden, a nature park surrounded by trees.
There are 2 areas in the course: the “Gosensui” area, which is paved with wooden walkways making it easy to wander through the pristine forest, and another area for intermediate-level trekkers, where you can amble while admiring the beautiful “Ryousen waterfall”.
The family-friendly course encircling the Gosensui waterway takes about 40 minutes.
You can walk with your dog if on a leash. At the mountaintop station, you can rent a baby stroller for kids and a towing wheelchair assisting device “Jinriki Quick”, so the whole family can walk together. Soft-serve ice cream and coffee are also available at the summit.

- This is the view from the gondola towards the mountaintop station. The lake on the far right is Lake Megami, where parents and children can try many activities such as canoeing, kayaking and boating together. They also have delicious “omu-rice” (rice omelet).

- “Megami no Sora Terrace 1830” is located next to the mountaintop station. It is an observatory that offers gorgeous views of Lake Megami and Northern Alps. There are sofas and hammocks on site and relaxing here on a sunny day is highly recommended.

- First, let’s start walking around Gosensui. The wooden promenade is well maintained and comfortable to walk on. Every time you step on the wooden path, it produces the sound “tan-tan-tan”, which kids love very much. Let’s cross the wooden bridge and proceed further.

- This is a quiet path deep in the forest. The walkway around the Gosensui is not very long, but the atmosphere changes drastically from one spot to the other. There are places with a soft ambience where the sun shines brightly, while other places are quieter and filled with bamboo grass. You may spot wild birds on your way. Take a leisurely stroll on this cool promenade where the sun shines through the trees.

Now, let’s pass the visitor center and enter the forest area of Gosensui and Ryousen waterfalls.
From here starts the trekking course for the intermediate-level trekkers characterized by long distance and many ups and downs. In the middle of a woodland resembling a virgin forest, you can fully take in the beauty of nature with wild birds, larch forests, streams and waterfalls …. but please be careful not to slip while enjoying the “wood bathing”.
You can rent trekking poles at the visitor center.

- Ryousen waterfalls sit at the back of the nature garden, which changes its appearance every day. On the day we took this picture, beautiful water that looked like white threads flew down the right side. On days after it rains, water starts falling from the rock on the left as well, changing into a powerful stream.
In the Gosensui Natural Garden course, you can stroll leisurely while looking for wild birds and plants in the beautiful forest where the sun shines through the trees. The path to the Gosensui and the visitor center is well maintained, so the elderly and children can comfortably walk together.
You can walk with your pet on a leash too. This is truly a trekking course for all the family.
The “Gosensui no Mori (forest)” area around the Ryousen waterfall located at the back of the visitor center is a walking course through a large forest.
The course is long with ups and downs. Please make sure everyone in your group is up to the task.
