Known as superb traditional cake in Tateshina is Kuzobe mochi. This product is named after Kisoji Yazaki, an ancestor who opened Tateshina spa (Tenpo 10). For his achievment of having opened up reputed spa effective for healing, the top officer in Suwa state gave him the praise of "Yaku Kyuzobai (9-times more effective medicine", after which he was renamed, to serve visitors for the spa with mochi inspired with the joy.
