Kurumayama-kogen Highland Trekking Course includes various trekking routes for beginners and advanced trekkers, centered around the top of Mt. Kurumayama, the highest peak of Kirigamine. Whichever route you choose, you will see beautiful sceneries through the four seasons and many famous Japanese mountains. The distance and time vary greatly depending on the course, but the standard course where you take the lift to the top of Mt. Kurumayama and walk around Kurumayama Wetland takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

From Kurumayama Sky Plaza, you can reach the top of Mt. Kurumayama by taking 2 high-speed quad lifts: the Sky Liner and the Sky Panorama.
From the lift, on the way up, you can admire the view of the wide sky that extends to the top of the mountain, and on the way back, overlook the beautiful Lake Shirakaba and Mt. Tateshina.

- When you get off the second lift, you will almost be at the top of Mt. Kurumayama. Kurumayama reaches a height of 1,925m and is the highest peak of Kirigamine area. It boasts a 360 degrees panoramic view of the Yatsugatake mountain range, the South, Central and Northern Alps. If the weather is good, Mt. Fuji can be observed far away. At the top of the mountain sits Kurumayama Shrine, which is surrounded by 4 Onbashira pillars like Suwa Taisha, so let’s pray for safety on the way.

- When you look at the foot of the lift, you can see Lake Shirakaba down below. In front of you is the beautiful Mt. Tateshina, which is also called “Suwa Fuji”.

- The path continues from the top of the mountain to Kurumayama-kata. The many mountains of Nagano, endless grasslands and the Venus Line spread below your eyes.

There is nothing blocking your view around the top of Mt. Kurumayama, so the trekking will make you feel as if you were walking in the sky.
The weather in Kirigamine is changeable, and even if it is foggy or cloudy in the morning, it often turns to fine weather after a while.

From Kurumayama Sky Plaza, you can choose from various routes depending on tyour age and fitness level. There is a course for everyone.
Depending on the route, season and weather, the scenery changes. You can always discover a different side of Kurumayama in this course.
If you travel with kids, we recommend taking the 2 lifts from Kurumayama Sky Plaza to the top of the mountain in one go and then stroll leisurely to relish the scenery.
For those confident in their physical strength, why don’t you go to the top of the mountain from Sky Plaza on foot while appreciating the view, or maybe even go on further to Yashima Wetland or Kirigamine?
Since each course is relatively long, make sure to bring drinks and sun protection.
There are some big stones along the way, so it’s better to wear trekking shoes.
