Shiomine Onodachi park
A park located 1,020 m high, a part of nationally designated Mt. Yatsugaya Tyusin highland. The chirping of small birds in this forest was designated as "one of the best 100 sound landscapes in Japan", in the conference of "Shiomine small-bird bus" held since 1954. Also famous as the home to coloring leaves. In addition, you may watch grand views such as Lake Suwa, Mt. Yatsugadake or three highest mountains in (Mt. Fuji; Mt. Kita; Mt. Okuhodaka) from the lookout, with this place being the only one you can watch those three at the same time. Near the lookout is the monumental stone that commemorizes the place where Emperor Meiji came over to watch the surrounding landscapes in Meiji 13 or 1880; "Shiomine Onodachi commemorization fest" is also held by Okaya-shi and Shiojiri-shi in turn, twice annually in spring and fall, famous as the shortest fest in Japan.
